Lip Balm Recipe – Make your own natural lip balm using three simple ingredients


Making your own natural lip balm is easier than you might think. It is also better for your budget to buy commercial products – and you get the advantage of knowing exactly what you are putting into your mouth. Add the healing properties of essential oils for aromatherapy and you have a winner!

Many commercial lip balms are made with petroleum. Petroleum products have been banned for cosmetics use in many countries because they contain impurities that can cause cancer and other health problems.

In addition, lip balms and creams are often designed commercial for once the initial moisturizing effect is gone, they really dry skin (or lips) you have to keep applying the product (what makes you buy more – good for sales.)

On the other hand, all-natural plant-based skin and lips hydrated provide real, healthy, not poison or dry skin. You can use a variety of oils and butters to make your own lip balm, and you can even perfume with essential oils to a little more pizzaz (not to mention the strengthening of its healing powers!)

Here’s a very basic three ingredient lip balm recipes to start.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil or sweet almond oil
1 tablespoon grated beeswax (you can use a candle of pure beeswax for this)
1 capsule of vitamin E (400 IU)

Instructions

1. Place oil and wax in a heat-resistant bowl (like a heavy glass cup measure.) Drill a hole in the vitamin E capsule and squeeze the liquid in the mixture of oil and wax.
2. Place heat-resistant container in a pot of water on the stove and heat over low heat until the wax melts. Immediately remove from heat.
3. Pour the liquid into a small screw-top bottle or jar or tube of lip balm. Allow to cool (solidify) before use.

Lip Balm Base

Substitute 1 tablespoon shea butter 1 tablespoon beeswax.
Use the unrefined coconut oil instead of olive oil.
Add 12 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin for excess moisture.

Aromatherapy Essential Oils

Add 2 drops of lavender essential oil to soothe the irritation.
Try 2 drops peppermint essential oil for a natural freshness tingling.
Add 2 drops of vanilla essential oil for a delicious smell sweet.
